I also found the original discs that came with it. I now can wipe it clean and re-install 10.6.4, as I think that was the original OS discs that came with it according to Apple, and then upgrade back to 10.6.8 via the internet. 10.6.8 is the OS that I currently have. To help with the wiping of my current mac clean, I could surely use a link with screenshots of what to select after I insert the disc (I'm guessing it is the install disc), and it's step by step instructions. Will I need to also re-install the applications from the applications disc as well, as my recent B/U via Carbon Copy Cloner said I had some files missing from GarageBand. I'm guessing those will be missing when I migrate from the backed-up files from my ext. I really need screenshots as opposed to written instructions. Many thanks in advance. I don't know why you're really doing a clean SL install and it would be a bit unusual for Carbon Copy Cloner to say you had some files missing, but all you have to do is boot from the 10.6.x install DVD and follow the install instructions. I have to do a clean install per one of the links you sent me regarding my erratic Airport behavior. I've tried most of the other options from those links and the CI seems to be my last option. Regarding Carbon Copy Cloner, I may have inadvertently deleted a piano or guitar file from GarageBand. I can't download the Mac OS X 10.6.8 COMBO Updater to re-install the OS X, as I am using the library's PC to access the internet as well as post on this site now and in the past. Even if I could download it to a PC and then upload that to my Mac via a Zip Drive, I really need to wipe the Mac clean, as it seems to be the only sure-fire way to fix any permissions or any other problem regarding Airport before I reinstall the OS. Once I wipe the Mac clean, I'll install via th OS disc that came with the MacBook Pro (it's either 10.3 0r 10.4) I will then go to the closest Mac store and use their more secure Airport (as opposed to the library's) or Ethernet connection (libraries around these parts don't offer Ethernet) to upgrade back to 10.6.8. After that I will migrate my Mac HD backup (containing 10.6.8 filed stuff) back into the MBP, then upgrade to the latest OS that 10.6.8 will allow. I'm wondering though, if I had permissions problems before, wouldn't those be copied into my CCC backup (since I backed up the entire Macintosh HD folder), and then be re-introduced into my clean Mac if I migrate the whole Macintosh HD folder?
